The story behind the pieces
The artist behind Inkru

Marcelina

Marcelina Nicz is the designer behind INKRU and a graduate of interior architecture. For over a decade, she has explored the creative possibilities of titanium, developing a body of work shaped by colour, texture, and light.

Today, she creates from Tenerife, drawing inspiration from the Atlantic light, volcanic landscapes, ocean forms, and distinctive architecture of the Canary Islands.

Beyond jewellery, her creative practice includes painting, analogue photography, and glass. These influences shape the world of INKRU, where craftsmanship, material, and artistic sensitivity come together.

When she is not in the studio, she is usually accompanied by Kusy — her cat, occasional supervisor, and faithful companion.

Inkru Origins

Where It All Began

INKRU was founded in 2015 from a fascination with titanium and the art of incrustation. Long before jewellery became the focus, Marcelina incorporated titanium into bespoke furniture and interior objects, combining natural materials with the distinctive character of metal.

Over time, these large-scale creations evolved into smaller, more personal forms. The fascination with titanium remained, but the scale changed — from furniture and interiors to jewellery, where colour, light, and craftsmanship could take centre stage.

Creating from Tenerife

Present

Today, INKRU is created on Tenerife, where the dramatic landscapes of the Canary Islands have become an important source of inspiration. Volcanic rock, ocean light, changing skies, and the slower rhythm of island life all find their way into Marcelina's work.

While the materials and techniques have evolved over the years, the original fascination with colour, texture, and craftsmanship remains unchanged. Each piece is designed and finished by hand in Tenerife, continuing a creative journey that began in Poland more than a decade ago.

Living and creating on the island has brought new influences, but the goal remains the same: to create objects that invite people to slow down, look closer, and find beauty in the details

Beyond Jewellery

A Broader Creative Practice

Jewellery is one part of Marcelina's creative world. Alongside INKRU, she continues to explore painting, analogue photography, and other artistic mediums. These creative pursuits influence the way she approaches colour, texture, composition, and material throughout her work.

From titanium, colour and light.
